Adult Mental Health Program

Cambridge Behavioral Hospital’s Adult Mental Health Program provides intensive treatment for individuals dealing with emotional and mental health issues in a safe and secure setting.

If you suffer from any of these emotional and mental health issues, you will benefit from treatment at Cambridge.

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Affective disorder
  • Phobias
  • Psychiatric disturbances
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Panic attacks
  • Grief & loss
  • Mood disorders

Our treatment programs take into account your mental, physical, and addiction (if present) issues that create barriers to leading a happy and healthy life. At Cambridge, we ensure that you will have access to:

  • An interdisciplinary team of mental health care professionals, including counselors, doctors, psychotherapists, nurses, and support staff. This ensures your addiction is treated in a holistic manner.
  • A supportive environment outside the city where you can find stability and peace of mind.
  • Kindness, empathy, dignity, and respect at all levels in the continuum of care
  • Various evidence-based recreational therapies, like music therapy, in addition to traditional mental health care strategies and addiction treatment.
  • Discharge planning throughout your time at the hospital to ensure you have a safe place to go and to help prevent relapse.

Assessment Process

Before you enter the program, you will undergo an assessment to ensure you are placed in the right area of care. These assessments are conducted to evaluate your physical, social, and emotional health. You will then be placed in either inpatient care or get a referral to a partial hospitalization treatment program.  If you require detox or stabilization before care can be administered, we will make sure you receive it.

What to Expect During Treatment

At our inpatient mental health program, you can expect a tranquil environment to rest, recover, build relationships, and attend various treatment groups. You will meet with your psychiatrist and attend group meetings. We also provide life skills training and 12-step groups, to help prepare you for long-term recovery.

Discharge Process and Long-Term Care

The importance of having a safe and supportive environment to return to after treatment cannot be overstated.  That’s why planning for a discharge, be it a return to a home environment or an alternate living arrangement, begins the day of admission. Social workers and the treatment team, with the input and assistance of family members, help to make the transition out of treatment a safe and seamless experience. We take into consideration the following needs:

  • Long-term therapy and counseling needs
  • Access to support networks
  • Living and work arrangements
  • Medications prescribed
  • Community and family resources

If returning home is not in your best interest, we will find you somewhere else to return to: oftentimes in a sober living community.
